Sid Richardson Carbon & Energy Co. has demonstrated a proven record of steady and successful growth through continued expansion and process/product improvement. Two of the manufacturing facilities produce 55 MW of electricity through cogeneration and exports approximately 50% to the deregulated market. Today, the company provides an annual production capacity in excess of 970 million pounds (440 thousand metric tons) of furnace carbon black, including over 40 grades of ASTM and speciality carbon blacks to more than 80 companies.
While employees achieved operational excellence in production and maintenance at Sid Richardson, they needed to build leadership capabilities to successfully navigate the dramatically changing business environment that included fluctuations in commodity prices, constantly evolving regulations, overseas competitors, and a changing workforce.
Through a rigorous needs assessment, our faculty created a customized learning experience for these executives that allowed them to:
- Gain increased self-awareness to help them identify gaps in their
- leadership approach
- Build tools and capabilities to lead teams through this turbulence
- and successfully support the organization
- Work more collaboratively and break organizational silos to bring agility in decision-making
The inaugural leadership programme was followed up by a subsequent programme and additional consulting engagements between Eller faculty and Sid Richardson.
